Ramsgate Knit Twits

As a Ramsgate Tourism Event in June 2014, Hazel Voice and Elsbeth Koen ‘yarnbombed’ the Tanglewood area in Ramsgate in time for the World Wide Knit in Public Day. During the event about 20 ladies sat under the ‘bombed’ trees, knitting, crocheting, chatting and enjoyed a wonderful day out.  By popular request Hazel started the regular “yarning together group” …and that is how the Ramsgate’s Knit Twits began. We meet once a month, for a couple of hours or so. The meetings are twofold: We get to see one another and do what we love i.e. knit/crochet, chat and put the world to rights Plan and prepare for our next public event or needy cause. Our aim is to knit/crochet items for various charities. Bed Socks for the HIV AID’s patients Blankets for needy children Teddies for the Rape Crisis Twiddle muffs for the dementia patients Other items made,... read more

A bit of Ramsgate in Van Reenen

2 Ramsgate ‘locals’ unite for a weekend of storytelling, good food & laughter in Van Reenen this May! Some may not know but local Ramsgate residents and business owners Bill & Gail Ross-Adams also own the charming and historic Green Lantern Inn in Van Reenan. They, together with local actress and Bosman storyteller, Barbie Meyer (who can be found in the delightful mix of artists at Artists’ Gallery in Ramsgate) have conjured up an amazing night away. The overnight stay will include hilarious storytelling, good food, gorgeous old world accommodation and scrumptious breakfast at the Inn. Van Reenen is a languid four hour drive from Ramsgate. Barbie will perform her entertaining one-woman, Herman Charles Bosman shows entitled “Bosman’s Veld Maiden”. The show is all in English. Bill and Gail felt this type of classic, hilarious storytelling lends itself to ‘kuiering’ and supper and not having to drive home on... read more
