Ramsgate Knit Twits

As a Ramsgate Tourism Event in June 2014, Hazel Voice and Elsbeth Koen ‘yarnbombed’ the Tanglewood area in Ramsgate in time for the World Wide Knit in Public Day. During the event about 20 ladies sat under the ‘bombed’ trees, knitting, crocheting, chatting and enjoyed a wonderful day out.  By popular request Hazel started the regular “yarning together group” …and that is how the Ramsgate’s Knit Twits began. We meet once a month, for a couple of hours or so. The meetings are twofold: We get to see one another and do what we love i.e. knit/crochet, chat and put the world to rights Plan and prepare for our next public event or needy cause. Our aim is to knit/crochet items for various charities. The overnight stay will include hilarious storytelling, good food, gorgeous old world accommodation and scrumptious breakfast at the Inn. Van Reenen is a languid four hour drive from Ramsgate. Barbie will perform her entertaining one-woman, Herman Charles Bosman shows entitled “Bosman’s Veld Maiden”. The show is all in English. Nic Grobler’s art can be viewed at his gallery in Ramsgate, Nikia Art, which stocks some fabulous original sculptures that portray messages of hope. Nic Grobler is a talented South Coast sculptor who is famous for his meaningful “art with a message.” Nic intertwines his passion for theology with his art to create pieces that portray positive messages and tell stories, many of them Biblical. Combining his love of fine art with his interest in theology at university level, led Dr Grobler to receive a BA in fine arts, a B.Th degree, an M.Div and Doctorate of Theology. This wealth of knowledge and passion is evident in all his unique pieces.   Nic creates pieces that seek to evoke emotions in the viewer and so, naturally, he has a keen interest in Impressionist work. His work is remarkable in capturing, not only the actions of his subjects, but the emotions they feel. Nature... read more
