Fishing on the KZN South Coast

The KZN, South Coast offers some of the finest angling areas in the world. The Sardine Marathon & Half Marathon

The Sardine Half Marathon, presented by the South Coast Striders, has been a highlight on the local running calendar for a number of years. Runners come from far and wide to take part in this beautiful race. The race is a challenging one with some serious climbs, awesome downhills and welcome flat sections. The scenery makes it all worthwhile, with some of the best views you can find on the coast. This year’s race sees a few changes to the route, so if you have run it before, take note of the map below. The route is run in the opposite direction to previous years and starts and finishes with some great downhills to get the blood pumping. Starting at South City Christian Schools, with a quick downhill and a meander towards the sea, the route runs right alongside the ocean at two sections before turning inland for a bit of a climb.... read more

The Margate Hook, Vine & Craft Beer Festival

If you are a fan of artisan food, craft beer, seafood and fine wine then this event was tailor-made for you The first ever Hook, Vine and Craft Beer Festival will be taking place from 10am Friday 3rd July until 4pm Sunday 5th July at Margate Beachfront. This event looks set to become a highlight on the market calendar, with wine farms, breweries and seafood vendors from around the country invited to display their wares. Entrance to the festival is R35 in the form of a “tasting ticket” which will enable you to sample the delicious wines and beers on offer. The Hibiscus Coast Ultra Marathon

Sunday the 26th April 2015 sees the inaugural running of the Hibiscus Coast Ultra Marathon. This highly anticipated event is hosted by the South Coast Striders and looks set to become a highlight of the running calendar. The event caters for all distance enthusiasts. There are three distances to choose from, the 48km ultra, a 24km run and a 5,6km fun run. The challenging 48km ultra route includes some of the most scenic views the Hibiscus Coast has to offer. Starting from Southcity Christian School in Ramsgate, the route will take runners down past some breathtaking ocean views then up into rural Gamalakhe and then onto the lush green hills KZN is famous for where you will be awarded spectacular inland views on one side and ocean views on the other. This beautiful race is a comrades qualifier and a great run to try as your first ultra. Africa Bike Week

Experience the Thrill Africa Bike Week™, the largest free motorcycle rally in South Africa, takes place annually over a four day period in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal.
