The Sardine Marathon & Half Marathon

The Sardine Half Marathon, presented by the South Coast Striders, has been a highlight on the local running calendar for a number of years. Runners come from far and wide to take part in this beautiful race. The race is a challenging one with some serious climbs, awesome downhills and welcome flat sections. The scenery makes it all worthwhile, with some of the best views you can find on the coast. This year’s race sees a few changes to the route, so if you have run it before, take note of the map below. The route is run in the opposite direction to previous years and starts and finishes with some great downhills to get the blood pumping. Starting at South City Christian Schools, with a quick downhill and a meander towards the sea, the route runs right alongside the ocean at two sections before turning inland for a bit of a climb.... read more

Famous Fishing Spots – Pot Hole & Orange Rocks

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught Pot Hole & Orange Rocks (S30 49.654 E30 24.210) These two deep water spots are found alongside each other between St.Michaels and Uvongo. Pot Hole can be a little challenging for novice anglers and the sea must be closely watched on spring high tides. Orange Rocks, immediately south, is an easier fishing platform with similar fishing opportunities on offer.
