Margate boasts the only Olympic-sized swimming pool south of Durban. The pool is on the main beach and since its renovation, has seen been restored to its former glory. The pool grounds are neat and tidy, the pool is sparkling and inviting and there are always life savers on duty. The muncipal pool is a hot spot for trainee life savers building up their endurance as well as swimming clubs and open water swimmers. The busiest times are early morning, 7hoo to 8hoo am. If you’re planning to get in a few laps on holiday make sure you’re there early to get a lane. If you’re lucky, you could scoop up a lane with lane ropes used by the Margate Saints in their afternoon training sessions.
