The inaugural Ramsgate Literary Festival will take place on the 24th and 25th of September as part of UGU South Coast Tourism’s Heritage Day celebrations. The festival will highlight all the wonderful things that make Ramsgate such a special town; good books, art exhibitions, quirky museums, music, tasty food, fine wines & antiques.
A dominant theme of the festival is the celebration of the local talent we have on the South Coast and we really do have some talented folk. Vicky Wentzel, from Wozani Africa Events, is the main organiser of the event. “Our focus this year is “Read Local” featuring 11 authors, 10 of whom are from the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast – many of them have written historical books on the area.” Books by local authors will be on sale throughout the event from Ramsgate Stationers, both at their store in the Southcoast Mall and from a special display at the Ramsgate Whale Deck.
We are really proud to play host to this wonderful festival that we know will just grow in popularity and renown.
“The Ramsgate area is rapidly becoming renowned for things creative and this literary event initiative will enhance this reputation and provide residents and visitors with a great opportunity to savor the beautiful coast and the richness of language and the arts” – Ugu South Coast Tourism’s CEO Mr. Justin Mackrory
We will be sharing the highlights of the Festival as well as itineraries for both days in upcoming articles, stay tuned.
