The Ramsgate Whale Deck

The Ramsgate Whale Deck

One of the most charming aspects of visiting the KwaZulu Natal south coast is its abundance of lush tropical vegetation and the variety of both marine and animal wildlife. The Ramsgate whale and dolphin viewing deck was built in 2009 by the Ramsgate Conservancy NGO and has since become a favourite place to explore for holiday makers.

Following the Conservancy’s success in building the deck they also added the Whale Deck Enviro Centre in late 2010. The Enviro Centre is used for various environmental awareness projects and fund raisers but it’s also a great little function venue.

How to get there...

Finding the Whale Deck is not difficult at all. There are a number of ways to get to it. You can park at the tidal pool end of the beach and follow the neat path up the hill or simply park in town and find the entrance opposite the Crayfish Inn.
